Redrow South West has launched a competition for children to make their dream play area a reality.

The Somerset-based housebuilder, which is currently developing Woodborough Grange in Winscombe, has launched its search for a new junior head of play.

Children, aged between seven and 14, living on any Redrow development in Somerset, can take part by submitting a drawing of their ideal play area.

The competition aims to bring children’s imaginations to life, encouraging them to create fun, welcoming spaces on housing development sites.

Whoever is lucky enough to be chosen as winner will join last year's victors, Willow and Indy, in becoming a primary influencer in the development of future play areas.

Working alongside Kevin Parker, the group masterplanning director at Redrow, the winner will also advise on their favourite play equipment to aid in the development of future play areas, encouraging more youngsters to enjoy playing outdoors.

A day of filming will also be arranged for the winner, showcasing them around their residence and on Redrow’s social platforms.

They will also provide a glimpse of their dream play area, which will be taken into account for future Redrow projects in Winscombe.

For their creative and hardworking efforts, winners will be awarded a prize of £250 in vouchers.

Previous winners Willow and Indy are excited about the competition: "We can't wait to have another junior head of play come and join us to help children like us get out and play this summer!".

Sian Smith, the sales director at Redrow South West, who will work closely with the new junior head of play, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative.

She said: "Redrow is thrilled to initiate a countrywide contest, seeking children’s creative ideas for our playgrounds. We aim to listen to the young users of these spaces, enhancing and crafting friendly play areas for future enjoyment."

Parents are asked to email redrowteam@redconsultancy.com with images of their child's dream play area accompanied by a short biography including the Redrow development they reside on.
