The Met Office has extended its yellow weather warning for rain in Somerset and Devon until midnight tonight (Friday, September 6).

A yellow weather warning was in place from 9pm on Wednesday night (September 4) into Thursday night (11.45pm on September 5), the Met Office said. The area covers all of Somerset, plus Sidmouth, Honiton and Axminster.

The Met Office says that heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption and flooding in places.

It added: "People affected can expect power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

"Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services

"Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

"There is a slight chance of damage from lightning strikes, most likely across the north of the warning area

"There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads

"There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."
