FACING a cost-of-living crisis, the RSPCA's North Somerset branch in Brent Knoll has launched a 'big appeal for funds'.

The branch is a separately registered charity from the National RSPCA, largely backed by community support to keep the animal centre open, which costs £1,300 daily.

A spokesperson for the rescue centre revealed the impact of the living cost crisis and the pandemic.

They said: "The cost-of-living crisis along with the pandemic has affected us all.

"The RSPCA North Somerset Branch as a charity like many others is desperately struggling.

"We have a lot of animals in our care undergoing both medical and behavioural rehabilitation and of course rehoming, with a lot more waiting to come in.

"We also support the community in our branch area with subsidised neutering of cats and dogs and hope to reinstate our support of vet fees again but only if we have the funds to do so."

The spokesperson called upon local supporters and businesses for support.

They said: "We are calling on our supporters and the community of North Somerset, to please help by donating.

"We would also love to get in touch with local businesses and corporates that might be able to donate to sponsor the work we do."

The charity is organising their annual 'Sunday Funday' at the Brent Knoll Animal Centre on September 8, to boost the fundraising effort.

The day will feature food, drink, music, and craft stalls, with opportunities to learn more about the charity's work.

Donations can be made on their website https://www.rspca.org.uk/local/north-somerset-branch, through Paypal https://www.paypal.com/gb/fundraiser/charity/4956513, or by texting BIGAPPEAL followed by your donation amount to 70580.

The Big Appeal for funds will continue until the end of the year, with updates to be shared along the way.
