A branch of the RSPCA is "desperately struggling" amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The RSPCA North Somerset Branch has said it is in need of donations from the public to continue its important work.

The charity has said the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis has affected it, with it now needing £1,300 per day to to keep the animal centre open.

A spokesperson for the RSPCA North Somerset Branch said: "The cost-of-living crisis along with the pandemic has affected us all, the RSPCA North Somerset Branch as a charity like many others is desperately struggling.

"We have a lot of animals in our care undergoing both medical and behavioural rehabilitation and, of course, rehoming, with a lot more waiting to come in.

"We also support the community in our branch area with subsidised neutering of cats and dogs and hope to reinstate our support of vet fees again but only if we have the funds to do so.

"We are calling on our supporters and the community of North Somerset, to please help by donating, we would also love to get in touch with local businesses and corporates that might be able to donate to sponsor the work we do."

The charity held is annual' Sunday Funday’ on September 8 at its Brent Knoll Animal Centre.

The event was an opportunity to raise funds and welcome supporters to see the work of the charity.

The charity's 2024 Big Appeal for funds will be running all through the end of the year.
