A VACANCY on Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council has arisen following the resignation of a town councillor.
Alasdair Elrick, town councillor for the Burnham Central ward since 2022, resigned from the Town Council earlier this month. An official notice has been published by the Town Clerk, notifying electors of the upcoming process.
“Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 87 of the Local Government Act 1972, that due to the resignation of Alasdair Elrick there is a vacancy for a Councillor for the Burnham Central Ward of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council.”
“If, within 14 days after the date of this notice, requests for an election to fill the said vacancy is made in writing to the Chief Executive, Electoral Services, Somerset Council, Bridgwater House, King Square, Bridgwater, TA6 3AR by TEN electors for the said Ward, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by the Town Council by co-option.”
