A school has received a £9,000 grant to improve its outdoor learning space.
Churchfield Primary School, with the help of the Primary Forest School, applied to the Hinkley Point project for a £5,000 grant.
The funds were intended for constructing a purpose-built shelter to ensure the Forest School area remains usable in all weather conditions.
However, the Hinkley Point project generously exceeded the original request, granting the school a total of £9,000.
Over time, the school has transformed a previously neglected piece of land into a vibrant outdoor learning hub.
The area is now used by the nursery, school, and community groups, providing an enriching environment for learning.
The new shelter will allow children to continue outdoor sessions even in adverse weather, supporting their overall wellbeing, and addressing their social and emotional needs.
The school expressed its gratitude to Hinkley Point for the donation, and also thanked local builders F Stillwell & Sons Ltd for their support.
This development is anticipated to further enhance the educational experience of the children, providing them with more opportunities to learn and develop in the natural environment, regardless of weather conditions.
