THIS year’s ‘Shop for a ‘cure’ for Christmas’ event raised more than £1,300 for Breast Cancer Now.

The free event, which takes place every year, supports local traders across Somerset as Breast Cancer Now brings together unique stall to help you with your Christmas shopping.

Shoppers were treated to an assortment of items, including handmade cards, pictures, bespoke jewellery, ceramic and glass decorations. The event took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Berrow Village Hall.

Holly Macbeth, of Somerset Breast Cancer Now said: “It was a huge success, considering we were worried about the storm impacting the day we didn't know what the outcome would be.”

Storm Bert brought widespread disruption to the county, with fallen trees and flooded roads.

Holly continued: “But as usual our loyal supporters came out in force and the hall was packed all day. Huge thanks to our lovely stall holders, DJ Dave from Sedgemoor FM for keeping us festive and to all who donated cakes and prizes for our event.”

The event raised £1,302, with everything sold out.

“We can’t thank the public enough for always coming and supporting our events and we will always continue to do them as long the public want them”, said Holly.

“We are so proud to continue Christine Pipers legacy, former chair of the somerset group in in her memory.”

The money will help the vital research and care for anyone affected by Breast Cancer.

The next event will take place on November 30, 2025. If anyone would like to support the Somerset Group in anyway whether its hosting an event or possibly joining the committee, please get in touch with Chairperson, Holly MacBeth via Facebook or email: bcnowsomerset@gmail.com
