THE return of Somerset Armed Forces Day has been announced - with a new celebrity face at the forefront of the event.
Dragons Den star Deborah Meaden is the event's new champion, and has pledged to help raise the profile of the event.
Postponed for the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, Armed Forces Day organisers have been working behind the scenes to revamp the event.
The organising committee has secured community interest company (CIC) status for Armed Forces Day, meaning the event is a charity organisation, not for profit, helping gain the necessary funding for the 2022 day and other support work in the community.
It will take place on Saturday, July 2, 2022, and feature hundreds of stalls and attractions, with organisers vowing it will be the 'largest event of this type' ever held in Somerset.

"We are absolutely delighted to announce that Deborah Meaden, one of Somerset’s leading businesswomen, charitable supporter and TV personality has agreed to be our champion," said an event spokesperson.
"Deborah will be helping us to raise the profile of the event and will also be opening the event on the day."
More details on the running order for the day and more are expected in the coming weeks.
