AN Avon and Somerset detective has been accused of sending inappropriate texts to two victims of sexual assault.
DC Jon Hopper is facing a misconduct hearing next week accused of beaching the police standards of professional behaviour.
The misconduct hearing, to held be on Thursday (March 3), will be chaired by Avon and Somerset Chief Constable Sarah Crew.
The panel will be told that DC Hooper used his computer to draft an e-mail of a sexual nature in relation to the victim of an aggravated burglary.
In his role as the officer in charge of the investigation in June 2019, he made entries on a crime recording system regarding that investigation. juine 2019
But, the panel will be told: "Prior to the appropriate entries being made and saved to the report, draft entries were typed by DC Hooper regarding a witness which were of a sexual nature.
"This entry was not uploaded to the system."
Then, during two separate investigations into sexual assault, DC Hooper, as the officer in charge, is alleged to have made contact with the victims and sent text messages using inappropriate language.
His messages are said to directly refer to the suspects in both investigations.
If proven, the allegations would amount to gross misconduct.
