A TEAM of three police officers returning from a training day today (Wednesday, April 6) couldn't resist pulling over a driver using a mobile phone on the M5 in Somerset.
And they got more than they bargained for after discovering the vehicle had a near bald tyre while the rear lights weren't working properly.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police roads policing unit tweeted: "Today's unlucky recipient of 6 penalty points is van driver whom we passed on M5 coming back from training day.
"Clearly seen using mobile phone by all 3 of us.
"Further examination revealed "Disco" defective rear lights and very dodgy tyre.
"Vehicle #prohibited too."
