Ladies' hockey: Cheddar 0, Burnham 5 BURNHAM Ladies finally had a morale-boosting win, beating their local rivals in the sunshine at Weston. They started by far the brighter and hit the home side with waves of attacks. Caroline Hunt and Sam Course led the line well, with Ali Parry and Louise Peace supporting at every opportunity.

They forced several short corners and took the lead from one when Parry crossed from the right for Tracey Dunn to sweep home decisively. Course doubled the lead shortly afterwards, when a strong and mesmerising run down the left from Heidi Lawrence provided her with the simplest of tap-ins.

Cheddar were struggling to keep pace with The Blues and when they created a couple of half-chances, Emma Smith and June England dealt with the threat admirably. Lawrence's wing play was causing Cheddar all sorts of problems and she got on the score sheet just before the interval, diverting Peace's shot in on the far post following another short corner.

Burnham kept the pressure on for most of the second half, although Cheddar got into the game more and keeper Sarah Johnson made a couple of smart stops. Rachel Duckett and Peace, picking up all the loose balls, drove their team forward to create numerous al chances and Carly Bush was unfortunate that none of her well-timed runs resulted in a goal.

Finally, Hunt scored Burnham's fourth, a great, solo run and cool finish when one on one with the keeper, following good pressure by Hanah Course. Then Peace topped a marvellous individual performance with a great strike to make it five. POM: Louise Peace.
