YOUNG boxer Kieran Mclauchlan of Titans ABC, Burnham/Highbridge, had his debut skills bout in his first season of boxing recently at the Scotch Horn Leisure Centre, Nailsea, hosted by Mycon ABC. His opponent Billy Hearle (Downend ABC, Bristol), who last year had a skills bout againstanother of Titans' boxers, Lewis Stacey.
Rounds one and two saw Kieran drifting round the ring, having got used to Hearle's all-action approach. Kieran was throwing powerful punches and combinations. Round three brought much of the same, with both boxers showing wonderful skill.
No decision is given in a skills bout, but at the end both hands were raised and appreciation was shown by the crowd. Both boxers were awarded trophies.
