FORMER Berrow Boys' player Jamie Howson made an impressive debut as a substitute for title-chasing Bridgwater Town Reserves recently in the Somerset County League Premier Division.
The 16-year-old striker from Lympsham, who was released recently by Plymouth Argyle, went on for the last 15 minutes as Bridgwater won 3-2 away to title rivals Nailsea United. Afterwards, the team's co-manager Rob Dray was full of praise for Howson's skill.
Another former local youth footballer James Conway was in the Somerset FA Under-18 team who beat their Gloucestershire counterparts 3-1 at Yate in the South and West Counties Championship. Conway now plays for Bridgwater Town.
It was the first victory of the season for Somerset, who hadn't played for three months. Lee Ludwell (Weston St John) scored two of Somerset's goals on his debut and Nick Bull (Richard Huish College) got the third.
