BURNHAM-ON-SEA ladies still have five matches to try and secure league survival this season, after their second successive match was postponed last Saturday.
The Beast from the East and Storm Emma conspired to postpone their match at Winscombe 2nds last Saturday, which came after the previous weekend’s home match with ECVH was also called off.
It leaves Burnham sitting eighth in the West Clubs Women’s League Sedgemoor Division 1, just a point outside the dropzone.
They are just ahead of Sidmouth & Ottery 2nds, and two points behind Winscombe 2nds, with Taunton Vale 4ths a further point ahead in sixth.
All of those sides are in a scrap to stay up, and Burnham face a crucial match away to Weston-super-Mare 2nds – who are cut adrift at the bottom – this Saturday (3.30pm start).
That’s followed by an equally crucial match, at home to Sidmouth & Ottery 2nds, the following Saturday (March 17), with the rearranged Winscombe game taking place the next day.
The Blues go to Minehead on March 24, but with the West Somerset side challenging for the title in second place, Burnham will be hoping to pick up the points from their other remaining games.
The ECVH match will most likely have to be played in April.
