West Clubs Women’s League
Brunel Division 1
Burnham-on-Sea 5, Lodway 3
BURNHAM came from behind to win a match which really proved to be a game of two halves.
They took the lead through Amy Edmundson after a defence-splitting pass from Nicky Glanville to Louise Peace created the opportunity.
But the visitors equalised soon after, and were 3-1 up at half-time with some sloppy defending from the Blues.
The home side stepped it up after the break, mainly due to a tactical change by captain Sarah Johnson.
They pressed together as a team, were first to the ball and began to pass it far better.
Glanville’s pinpoint pass from the back found Hattie Rogers, who set up Edmundson for her second.
Burnham then levelled through Kerry Harvey, after super work by Caroline Hunt, with the hosts looking dangerous every time they went forward.
The midfield looked far more in control and Lodway found it difficult to break through the ranks.
Rogers capped a fine individual performance with a neat finish after good work by Johnson, before Harvey wrapped up the scoring after exchanging passes with Edmundson and Peace and slipping the ball under the keeper.
Edmundson was denied her hat-trick as her cracking strike went in just after the final whistle was blown.
