GARY Anderson's bid for a third PDC World Championship is over, after a 4-2 defeat to Nathan Aspinall at Alexandra Palace.
Burnham-on-Sea resident Anderson - the world champion in 2015 and 2016 - is the current world number five but has endured an injury-hit season.
Aspinall, the 12th seed, hit 11 180s on his way to winning the last 16 clash, and he will now face the winner of the Dimitri Van den Bergh versus Adrian Lewis match in the quarter-finals.
