Cleve RFC 12-22 Burnham-on-Sea RFC

BURNHAM-on-Sea Rugby Club first XV enjoyed an impressive away win at the weekend over Cleve RFC.

It was a tightly fought match where both sides had spells of dominance but the visitors came out on top, winning by 22 points to 12.

The result takes Burnham to seventh place in the Counties 1 Tribute Western North league table.

In the match, Burnham scored three tries and converted one penalty to pick up the victory.

Cleve put a respectable challenge and for parts looked the team more likely to grab a hold of the match however the Stags were strong in defence and on the back of that got the points needed to win.

They were helped by a very impressive performance from man of the match Jordyn Watkins.

Up next for the firsts is their final match of the 2022 calendar year. They are away this Saturday (December 17) against Old Bristolians.

Wincanton 20 - 30 Burnham-on-Sea II

FOR the second XV at Burnham-on-Sea they too picked up a gritty away win at the weekend.

They defeated Wincanton by 30 points to 20 in what was a feisty affair, again, where both sides could have won.

The Stags were finding ways to score all over the pitch but Wincanton matched their levels for large parts of the game.

The victory leaves them in first place in the Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South league and very much the form team of the competition.

It means from their eight games played they have eight wins and 40 points on the league table.

The closest challenger is Crewkerne with 30 league points.

Up next for the seconds is a home game against local rivals Cheddar Valley on Saturday, December 17.

This is also the seconds final game of 2022 and will be looking to pick up a ninth win, this time in front of a large home crowd.
