Cheltenham North 38 - 52 Burnham-on-Sea Firsts

BURNHAM-on-Sea Rugby Club enjoyed a solid weekend of wins as both the first team and the seconds earned wins in their respective matches.

To start, the Firsts were victorious over Cheltenham North 52 points to 38 in their match away from home.

The result sees Burnham climb to second place in the Counties 1 Tribute Western North and really rams home their impressive form.

They have won eight games in a row and are unbeaten in 2023. An impressive feat.

In this match, they were on top for large parts but the hosts did well to score as many points as they did.

Burnham have been solid defensively in their current run but perhaps in this match that was lacking slightly.

Up next for Burnham is the return fixture against Cheltenham North, this time at home on Saturday March 4.

There is just three fixtures remaining for Burnham RFC this season, sat in second place, 18 points off the top, it is unlikely they will catch the leaders.

However, a second placed finish is on the cards and that would sum up a very successful season for the Stags.

Burnham-on-Sea II 41 - 17 Cheddar Valley

THE Second XV took on Cheddar Valley in their match and were comfortable winners 41-17 at home.

The win stretches their lead even further atop the Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South league table as they look set to win the title.

This match was an entertaining affair that Burnham had control of for the majority. Cheddar looked good in stages but not often enough to break down the defence of Burnham well.

Up next for Burnham Seconds is a home match against Wincanton on Saturday March 4, creating a double header with the First XV.

The Seconds have four games left in their campaign and sat 11 points in front on the table, it looks likely they will win the title.
