Counties 1 Tribute Western North: Chipping Sodbury 12 - 59 Burnham-on-Sea

BURNHAM-on-Sea RFC earned a fantastic 12-59 win away from home at the weekend against Chipping Sodbury.

The win means they hold on to second place in the Counties 1 Tribute Western North division with just one match remaining.

It took just a few minutes for Burnham to assert their dominance in the match as they crossed for the first try of the match under the posts.

From this position the Stags kept on the pressure and grew the lead well.

They were defending solidly as a unit and in attack some of the plays they made were truly impressive.

The squad, which has chopped and changed throughout the season, looked complete and deserving of their second place status.

Chipping Sodbury were not without chances and they did manage to score two tries, however Burnham were in total control for large parts of the 80 minutes.

Come full time, the home supporters applauded Burnham's performance and the team made the journey back home all smiles after another impressive win. 

It also means that Burnham have won ten successive matches in the competition, truly making them the form team in the competition.

Their final match is against Midsomer Norton away from home this weekend, kick off is 3pm on Saturday, March 18.

To secure second place from the chasing Nailsea & Backwell in third, Burnham just need to win this game. Good luck Burnham.

Counties 4 Tribute Somerset South: Yatton II 27 - 62 Burnham-on-Sea II

ELSEWHERE, the second XV at Burnham continued their winning run to 14 games as they defeated Yatton Seconds 27-62 away from home.

The Burnham side are still without defeat in the whole season so far and look set to win the league title.

There are two games remaining in the division for Burnham and only a shock would stop them from clinching the trophy.

Their penultimate game kicks off this weekend away from home against Martock.
