The Captains were in charge in the April Medal on Sunday as both the Club Captain and Seniors Captain's won their respective Divisions.

Dan Broom led the way in Division One with a superb level par round of 69 giving him a nett 66 and victory by two over Kevin White with Jerry Brueford winning a three way countback for third two strokes further back.

Seniors Captain Tim Amy was the victor of Division Three with a score of 72. It was a close run thing as he had to defeat another of the Broom clan in the form of Roger, Dan's Uncle, on a countback to take the win. Andy Jones was third on 76.

Matching the winning score of the top flight was the Division Two winner. Kevin Davies. His nett 66 secured the Medal by a single stroke over Steve Barker. Murray Parsons beat Roy Fletcher on countback for third.

The April Medal also has the added value of contesting the Brean Masters which sees the Medal winners from the previous year battle it out for the title. With both Broom and Davies enjoying wins in 2023 it required a countback to decide the winner of the silverware and Broom was declared the winner with a superior back nine score to Davies.

Craig Wheelaghan and Charlie Huggins led the way in the previous day's Super Series betterball. They combined to score 43 points between them and enjoyed a two point advantage over 3 duo's who each posted 41. After the back nine countbacks were complete it was the pairing of Tim Amy and Martin Kennelly who were placed second ahead of Tony Oliver and Dave Cogger in third. Fourth place went to John Cullinan and Andy Jones.

Seniors Captain Elect Tony Oliver overcame the testing conditions of Tuesday morning to win the John Heath Memorial Trophy. The event was shortened to 11 holes with the last 7 holes remaining closed due to the recent weather. Oliver racked up 19 points as he navigated the windswept layout better than the rest of the hardy souls who braved the elements to take part. Runner up with 17 points was Brian Read and third place went to Mike Hurman scoring 15.
