Somerset Division One: Yatton & Cleeve United 2-2 Burnham United
BURNHAM United AFC clawed back a two goal deficit to earn a point away from home at the weekend.
Their match in the Uhlsport Somerset County Leagues Division One ended 2-2 with Yatton & Cleeve United.
In the match, Burnham were up against it early on and went into the break two goals behind.
However in the second period they put on a much improved performance and were able to turn the game around scoring two goals.
This earned them a much-deserved point and takes them to eighth place on the league table.
Burnham United have three games remaining this season, with the first one away against Nailsea & Tickenham Reserves on April 23.
Elsewhere, the Burnham United Reserves lost 8-0 in their match at the weekend, while the Burnham United A Team won 7-0.
After the mixed results at the weekend, a spokesperson from the club said: "The First Team came back to get a point after going 2-0 down by half time. Great second half team performance.
"The Reserves unfortunately suffered a heavy 8-0 defeat, while the A Team had a busy day too but in our favour winning 7-0 with 2 players different players getting Hat tricks."
In other news at the club, fundraising efforts continue to replace the club house roof.
A spokesperson from the club said: "What if everyone gave one weeks subs where a game has been called off or had no fixture at the weekend?
"To anyone who plays or has played for Burnham United AFC and Burnham Juniors over the years.
"A quick bit of maths average subs for a game let’s call it £5, £5 x 200 (number of juniors in the club approximately) = £1000.
"This just shows how a lot of people giving a smaller amount can make a huge difference!"
The clubhouse roof is in desperate need being replaced, the current roof is leaking and we have been told that it is beyond repair and will have to be replaced.
The club has had the quoted cost of the new roof of £35,000.
The clubhouse is used by the local community not just for football, but it also the base for Burnham on Sea Hockey club, several skittles teams and a local darts team.
The club added: "If you have ever played for Burnham United AFC or have children involved with the club.
