More than 50 golfers sought glory in the Lukie Christmas Cup at the Brean Country Club.

Led by Seniors captain Tim Amy, the event saw competitors vying for the Lukie Cup and the Lukie Salver, awarded to the best male and female scores, respectively.

The men's competition was divided into three divisions, with Christmas hampers awarded to the top player in each flight.

All participants received a prize, thanks to the efforts of captain elect Leighton Pete Barton and Tesco.

Tim Amy shone in the middle division, securing victory with a commendable score of 40 points on a brisk, yet dry morning.

In the first division, Reece McDermott triumphed with a score just one point shy of Amy's, winning by two points from Pete Barton.

Club captain Dan Broom trailed a further point behind.

The third division was led by Brian Hollyhead, whose total of 36 points earned him top spot.

In the ladies' event, Lyn Bird emerged victorious, her score of 29 narrowly beating Linda Edmondson by a single point.

Bird received the Salver from lady captain Carole Short, adding to her previous victory in the event back in 2017.

Meanwhile, Simon Baunton and Dave Porter clinched victory in the second of the Christmas-themed events at Brean this year.

The pair triumphed in the Turkey Betterball on Saturday with an impressive score of 46 points, winning by two.

Adam Stringer and Matt Denman were the runners-up on 44 points, with Denman continuing his good form in these competitions after being part of the winning Scramble a fortnight ago.

Ian Rogers and Barry Brindley secured third place after a tie among four pairs on 40 points, due to their better back nine score.

Barry Roe bagged the November Seniors Stableford on a calm and bright Thursday morning, winning by two points with a score of 35 points over the 17 completed holes.
