The remnants of Storm Bert saw the course restricted to the nine hole layout for the Seniors Chairman's Cup on Tuesday.
Two laps of the circuit were completed by the players in the individual Stableford format. Two players returned impressive scores of 38 points and their second nine holes scores were used to decide the winner. Seniors Chairman Mike Short came out on top and with it collected the Chairman's Cup as he defeated Barry Roe on the countback. Tony McCann won another countback over Mike Hurman to claim 3rd spot after both signed for scores of 34.
The final team trophy of 2024 was up for grabs on Saturday as the Christmas Scramble was contested over the full 18 holes. The thirteen teams were competing to win the Grumpy Trophy and it was a close run affair in the end with just 6 strokes separating the entire field. A three way countback was also needed to decide the destination of the silverware. It was the team that tee'd off first in the morning who were far from grumpy at the conclusion of the event.
The quartet consisting of Matt Denman, Charlie Huggins and father and son combo of Gordy and Craig Wheelaghan combined to take the Trophy. Their score included the best back nine of the trio of returned scores of 54. The Runners up prizes went to another of the early starters as Trevor Pitt and Phil Barry joined forces with Bon Fear and Sam Davies to finish second. The unlucky team to end up third after the countback was Steve & Paul Jones, Simon Baunton and Tim Amy.
Overnight rain saw the course layout reduced back to 9 holes on Sunday for the December Medal on the opening day of the new month. Two circuits of the layout were completed and the winner with a nett score of 70 was Dave Morgan. He was one clear of Kevin Davies and Brian Read who both returned nett 71's. Davies was awarded second by virtue of having the better second nine hole score with Read ending in third.
